2015, what a year!!! In a number of ways, it was a year of great celebration. I launched this blog exactly a year ago! I became an ordained minister within the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). I also had the privilege of speaking and teaching across the country, telling people about God’s love for them, as well as spreading the good news about our Creator’s heart for justice and concern for the least of these. Additionally, I was also blessed and honored to be selected as one of the ECC’s “40 Under 40” leaders to watch and the Huffington Post’s list of “Black Christian Leaders Changing the World.”
However, 2015 was also the year that almost broke me! This year has been incredibly difficult; without question the most intense psycho-emotional year of my entire life. Throughout it, I constantly felt like the psalmist who prayed “Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you. Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call” (Psalm 102: 1-3). Nevertheless, God remained sovereign; reminding me that Jesus is indeed Immanuel and that we have been sent an advocate in the Holy Spirit. So with all of that, I’m wishing you all a safe & Happy New Year & here’s to 2015!
